New UCC/Ritmuller Classical Artist in Residence David Syme Performs Inaugural Concert on Ritmüller RS280 Grand Piano

In an October event that was among the first held in front of a live audience at the University College Cork (UCC) since the beginning of the pandemic, recently appointed first-ever UCC/Ritmüller Classical Artist in Residence David Syme delivered a diverse repertoire of Classical, Baroque, and Irish Traditional music. He performed the program on a 9’ 2” Ritmüller RS280 Concert Grand specially provided by the Pearl River Piano Group in the stunning surrounds of UCC’s historic Aula Maxima facility which dates from 1847.

Designed and built in Germany, the Ritmüller Supreme RS280 is one of the most unique and technologically advanced Concert Grand pianos ever crafted. With its extra-long keyboard action, proprietary triplex scaling, an enlarged, climate-resistant soundboard made of AAA grade Bavarian/Bohemian spruce, German-made Röslau, and Pitthan Draht high-performance strings, and custom-made Renner hammers with merino wool felt, the RS280 excels in its sound quality and tuning stability.
